BCCI willing to increase Sourav-Jay’s duration

Sourav and Jay.

Amidst lockdown, there is a new confusion regarding the post-holders of BCCI, especially regarding the two main posts of board president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah.

Sourav and Jay’s 6 year span as office holders is going to end this year which means they need to go to cooling off period. But the members of BCCI wish to continue with both of them remaining in front as the main pillars.

At the annual general meeting of BCCI, the members decided to work with this committee for the next 6 years. The board members not only wants to stop the cooling-off but also wants Sourav and Jay to be given a chance to continue for the next 3 years so that this committee brings about betterment of Indian Cricket. Many of the members think if Sourav-Jay is sent to cooling off now then there would not be any chance for evaluation of their work.

According to the recommendations of Lodha committee, no one can remain as a post-holder of any cricket board(National or State level) for more than 6 years. After completion of 6 years, they need to go to cooling off for a period of 3years.

Sourav Ganguly will complete his span of 6 years this July as president of CAB and BCCI. Jay Shaw will complete his duration this October.

Both of them has won the support of the members. But the rest remains in the hands of the Court.
